HAMPCAS by the Numbers

The Health Administration, Management and Policy Centralized Application Service (HAMPCAS) 2026-2027 cycle opened August 21, 2026. The 2025-2026 cycle ended in mid-August and resulted in a total of 1,015 submitted applications from 538 applicants. Efforts to increase HAMPCAS participation have brought in nine new programs over the last year and a significant increase in applications from the previous cycles. Over the last three cycles, the total number of unique applicants has increased by 48.6% and submitted applications have increased by 68.9%. The Borkowski Family Scholarship, generously funded by Nancy Borkowski and family, provides up to three full-time doctoral students each year assistance in pursuing the Art of Teaching Institute Certificate for Teaching in Healthcare Management . This credential provides doctoral students specific training in teaching in the healthcare management classroom. Courses within the Art of Teaching Institute are developed and taught by leaders in the field. Each recipient will receive $400 towards the total cost of the Certificate. Please join us in welcoming Ian Felker, AUPHA’s new Meetings Manager, who joined the staff on August 17th. After graduating from Penn State, Ian spent the first half of his career in theatre management in Chicago. He has since transferred those skills to a fulfilling career in events, organizing logistics and programming for a multitude of events with Elder Pine Brewing and Blending, the University of Chicago, and the York County Economic Alliance. In his free time, Ian enjoys playing one of his nine different instruments, hiking, and spoiling his cat, Fern.

AUPHA is assembling Undergraduate Certification Review teams for the 2026-2027 cycle. Please consider volunteering as a member of a review team for the upcoming spring round . This is a valuable opportunity to contribute to the certification process while gaining insight into other programs’ operations and structure. Teams typically consist of six members: one chair, one scribe, two reviewers, and two assistant reviewers. Dr. Zahi Jurdi Joins Arnold School of Public Health as MHA Program Director The University of South Carolina welcomes Dr. Zahi Jurdi, DHA, as Clinical Associate Professor and MHA Program Director in the Department of Health Services Policy & Management. He most recently served as Vice President of Patient Experience at Arcare and previously directed the MHA program at the Medical University of South Carolina.
