On Tuesday, October 14, 1-4:30PM Eastern time, AUPHA’s Leadership Academy will offer the 3-credit course, Graduate Program Directors on-site in conjunction with N.A.H.S.E.’s Annual Educational Conference and Everett V. Fox Student Case Competition. The deadline for registration has been extended to this Thursday, October 9 at 11:59PM Pacific time.
Developed and taught by two experienced leaders in the field; Kevin Broom, PhD, University of Pittsburgh, and Amy Landry, PhD, MSHA, The University of Alabama at Birmingham; this course builds upon The Emerging Leader: Program Directors, providing a focus on issues specific to directing graduate-level programs in the field of healthcare management education. Individuals with experience in academic leadership may take this course without first taking the introductory course.
The course leverages a case-based methodology to help enhance effectiveness as a Graduate Program Director. Participants will explore several challenges that graduate program directors face, including stakeholder engagement, strategic planning, effective governance, accreditation, curriculum management, recruiting/admissions, integrative experiences, professional development, and student/alumni success. Through multiple interactive activities, case studies, and peer discussions, participants will build the skill sets necessary to successfully navigate the role of a graduate program director.
