In March 2020, Conan Q. Dickson joined the full-time faculty of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, where he is an Associate Practice Professor within the Department of Health Policy and Management. He also serves as the Associate Director of the JHU Master in Health Administration Program. He primary courses are Strategic Leadership & Decision Making and Quantitative Tools for Managers.
Prior to this role, Dr. Dickson served in various leadership positions within Johns Hopkins Medicine over twenty-five years: Sr. Director Business Development and Strategy (2015-20); Sibley Memorial Hospital Chief of Staff (2013-15); Administrator of JHH Medical Affairs (2009-2013); Administrator of JHHS Operations Support (2005-13); Sr. Researcher Center for the Center for Innovation in Quality Patient Care (2004-05); Instructor MBA Business of Medicine Program / Financial Consultant Department of Medicine (2001-04); Assistant Administrator JHH Ambulatory Operations (1997-2001); and JHHS Administrative Fellow (1995-97). He also served at the Program Director of the JHM Administrative Fellowship for fifteen years and currently serves on the National Council of Administrative Fellowships Steering Committee.
Dr. Dickson has served as President of the Baltimore Rotary Club; Chair of the Episcopal Community of Services of Maryland Board; Treasurer of the Health Care Council of the National Capital Area Board; finals judge at the UAB National Case Competition, and a variety of other community service roles.
Dr. Dickson has a doctorate in Health Services Research from Johns Hopkins University, a master degree from Yale University, and bachelor degrees in Health System Management and Accounting from Auburn University. He is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.
