Bio

Stacey Walraven is the Program Director for the Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration and a faculty member in the Health Science & Technology Department at Charter Oak State College in Connecticut. With more than two decades of experience in health information management, medical coding, and healthcare education, she is passionate about preparing the next generation of healthcare professionals and supporting the continued growth of those already working in the field. Stacey has worked across healthcare education and industry settings, bringing real-world insight into the classroom and professional development environments.

Stacey focuses on preparing students and professionals for the evolving healthcare workforce by integrating emerging technologies and artificial intelligence competencies into healthcare education. Her work emphasizes aligning academic programs with current and future workforce needs, ensuring graduates understand how data, technology, and AI are shaping healthcare operations, documentation, and decision-making.

Stacey is a long-time member of AAPC and AHIMA and an active contributor to the health information and coding profession. She is a co-author of AHIMA Press’s Basic ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS Coding textbook and its companion Basic ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS Coding Exercises book, widely used in coding education programs. Through speaking engagements, writing, and mentorship, Stacey further supports healthcare professionals in expanding their career pathways and developing leadership skills.
