Keep Your Certificate Current: How to Earn CEUs for the Certificate for Teaching in Healthcare Management

By AUPHA Exchange posted 09-30-2025 09:51

Are you pursuing or have you earned the Certificate for Teaching in Healthcare Management? Did you know that this credential must be renewed every two years?
When an individual earns the Certificate, they are conferred a badge via an online platform called Credly. This badge indicates the expiration date of their Certificate, which is two years from the date it was earned.

To renew the Certificate before its expiration date, the individual must complete 15 continuing education credits within that two-year period.

These credits can be earned via any of the following sources:

  • Additional ATI coursework
  • AUPHA webinars that have been identified as conferring ATI CEU credits (typically 1 credit per webinar)
  • AUPHA Annual Meeting sessions that have been identified as conferring ATI CEU credits (typically 1-2 credits per session; individuals may earn no more than 7 credits at one Meeting)
  • Portions of AUPHA's Academic Program and Practitioner Workshop that have been identified as conferring ATI CEU credits (typically 1-3 credits)

In rare circumstances, credits may be conferred by webinars or workshops offered outside of AUPHA. These credits will be processed at a fee of $15 per credit. Individuals should submit requests for external credits to Jenn Munt at jmunt@aupha.org by providing an explanation of the event, how it applies to continuing education for the certificate, and proof of attendance.

To track their progress, individuals may review the total credits they have earned via the member portal.

For those pursuing the Certificate for Leadership in Healthcare Management Education, please review the Leadership Academy page on AUPHA’s website for details on the slightly different requirements to earn and maintain that credential.
