As I step down as the AUPHA Chair, I am filled with a sense of gratitude. In my speech, I expressed my thanks to numerous individuals, such as Dan Gentry, Jaime Stephens, my fellow board members, my wife Dawn, and, of course, our members for their unwavering support. Serving in this position has been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my career, and I am deeply thankful for the support I received from all of you. I am also grateful for the members of the past who made AUPHA the organization it is today. Stepping down does not mean an end to our work together. On the contrary, it is merely a new beginning and an indication that there is more work ...

In Pursuit of Exceptional Governance Greetings AUPHA members, partners, and friends: First and foremost, I encourage you to read the columns in this issue of the Exchange by AUPHA’s outgoing and incoming Board Chairs, Dr. Reid Oetjen of the University of Central Florida, and Dr. Cathleen Erwin of Auburn University, respectively. This is an important annual transition in governance leadership for AUPHA’s Board, staff, and membership. Reid and Cathleen’s insights and reflections demonstrate the depth of their service and commitment to - and love for - AUPHA and our field of healthcare management education. I am grateful to and for them both. ...

AUPHA’s Annual Meeting, held in Tampa earlier this month, was a resounding success. Over 330 members and guests convened at the JW Marriott Hotel Tampa Water Street for three days filled with educational, poster, and keynote speakers, as well as doctoral, undergraduate, and global tracks. The meeting also featured some optional events held both pre- and post-conference: An Art of Teaching Institute and Leadership Academy course; an opportunity to volunteer at Metropolitan Ministries of Tampa; a site visit to the Center for Advanced Medical Learning and Simulation, and a sunset cruise on Tampa Bay. It was a pleasure seeing so many of you at our Annual Meeting in Tampa, Florida, on June 4-6th. If you were there, you know that I was a bit under the weather vocally and unable to share my vision for AUPHA as I assumed the role of Chair. So, as I shared at our business meeting in Tampa, I am instead providing my remarks through my inaugural Chair's Blog for the AUPHA Exchange. Hence, the blog post is a bit longer than I would typically write (I promise). First, I want to thank Reid Oetjen for his leadership as Chair for 2023-2024. Working closely with him throughout the past year has been a pleasure, and I am so happy that he remains on the board as past Chair ...
