Hello from the heart of Indiana! On a personal note, I have been married for over forty years and have three grown children and eight grandchildren.
My wife and I love to travel and have a "travel room" at home decorated with pictures of the many places we have traveled. Our favorites have been Paris and Hawaii. I think French is a fascinating language, and I am making a feeble attempt at learning to speak French. One of my passions is providing healthcare in Haiti. I have had the blessing of doing medical mission work in Haiti and helping build a hospital on the Haitian island of La Gonave.
Professionally, I am a Registered Nurse and Registered Respiratory Therapist and hold a Doctorate in Business Management with a specialization in healthcare administration from Indiana Wesleyan University. I have over forty years of healthcare management experience, ranging from hands-on clinical care to executive leadership as CEO of a for-profit surgical corporation. I am the Director of Risk Management and focus on legal issues for our network, including medical malpractice. I am a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and active at a state level in this organization. I have been a National Examiner for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. I am also active in the Indiana Society for Healthcare Risk Management and a recipient of the Glenn Troyer Award for Excellence in Risk Management in Indiana.
Prior to moving to the surgery center, I was Vice President – Business Development and Support Services in a hospital setting. I developed multiple entrepreneurial ventures for the health system, including imaging and urgent care centers. This experience included administering all aspects of these programs, from strategic planning, through construction management and business plan development to legal structure design and implementation.
