AUPHA’s Board of Directors met recently to discuss the future of the 2020 Annual Meeting, scheduled for June 3-5 in Salt Lake City. After considerable and careful deliberation, and putting the health and safety of our members and partners first and foremost, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 AUPHA Annual Meeting.
As concerns about the spread of the COVID-19 virus have increased; and given the challenges of timing, travel and other logistics, and university policies related to these issues; AUPHA’s leadership determined this was the best way to proceed during this global pandemic. AUPHA is very disappointed that we are unable to hold this event in Salt Lake City but are confident that it is the right decision based on the information available today.
We are exploring ways to virtually deliver the excellent content that AUPHA’s Annual Meeting Planning Committee (AMPC) has packaged together so beautifully. We know how much work has gone into faculty preparation of plenary, panel, and education sessions, and poster presentations. We also know that being able to share this scholarship with the healthcare management and policy academic community has implications for annual reviews, promotion, and tenure.
A steering committee consisting of several members of the AMPC will be convened soon to assist the AUPHA staff with this effort. We will update you as revised plans come together in the coming weeks.
Information concerning full Annual Meeting registration refunds and other details associated with cancellation of the Salt Lake City meeting will be communicated by the end of this week.
