Bio

Dr. Wainright is Professor of Management and Healthcare Management in the Jack C. Massey School of Business in the College of Business Administration at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. Previously, he served as the Director and Associate Professor for the Graduate and Undergraduate Health Administration Programs in the Department of Public Health, College of Health & Human Services at Western Kentucky University. Prior to this position, he was a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army and the Director and Associate Professor of the U.S. Army-Baylor Graduate Program in Healthcare Administration, Center for Healthcare Education & Studies (CHES), AMEDD Center & School. He has a Doctorate of Philosophy in Administration – Health Services from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, a Master Degree in Health Administration from Baylor University, and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from the University of Alabama. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and spends a considerable amount of time mentoring young healthcare administrators throughout the US. He has taught a wide variety of graduate courses in a myriad of University Graduate Programs including Western Kentucky University, Trinity University, Baylor University, and University of Alabama at Birmingham. Graduate courses taught by Dr. Wainright include: Health Services Human Resources Management; Healthcare Economics; Healthcare Policy Issues; Strategic Management of Healthcare Organizations; Organizational Behavior - Theory & Design; Healthcare Leadership; and Healthcare Consulting Practicum. During his 23-year Army career, he served in several key senior leadership positions including: Chief, Individual Training, Department of Healthcare Education and Training; Executive Operations Officer, Healthcare Administration Division, Academy of Health Sciences; Healthcare Administration Consultant for Ambulatory Patient Care and Family Practice, 7th Medical Command; Strategic Planning Consultant for Medical Service Corps, Army Medical Department Center & School, and U.S. Army Medical Command. He has traveled extensively throughout Europe providing professional seminars during his various assignments in the military, as well as trips to Korea and Hawaii. Throughout his professional career and prior to his academic career, Dr. Wainright has worked in a variety of healthcare settings including hospitals, health clinics, and long-term care facilities.
