Bio

Diane Howard, Ph.D., FACHE is professor and chair in the Department of Health Systems Management (HSM) where she teaches courses in managed care, health care in America, and professional seminar. She serves on the HSM career services, chairman’s council, curriculum, faculty appointments and promotions, recruiting and marketing, and research committees, and is a member of the Rush University Medical Center’s Diversity Leadership Group. Prior to her appointment at Rush, she was vice-president of Medical Delivery at Aetna, Inc. in Washington, DC and vice-president of Medicare, Medicaid and Individual Products at U.S. Healthcare in Philadelphia. Prior appointments include serving as Director of the American Hospital Association’s Division of Ambulatory Care, Health Promotion, and Women’s and Children’s Health, vice-president of Ambulatory Care at Lake Hospital Systems in Painesville, OH and assistant vice-president of Ambulatory Care at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago. She holds a B.A. from Hampton University, M.P.H. from the University of Pittsburgh, and Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives, Research Committee Chair of the National Association of Health Services Executives, member of the ACHE Northern Illinois Regional Advisory Committee, and Board Member and Finance Committee Chair at Holy Cross Hospital in Chicago, and member of the University of Pittsburgh and University of Illinois Alumni Advisory Boards.
