​ This year’s Graduate Program and Practitioner Workshop, formerly known as Leaders Conference, will take place on Tuesday, March 27, at the Hyatt Regency Chicago, from 7:00am – 12:00Noon. The Workshop will be held in conjunction with ACHE’s 2018 Congress. This year’s theme is Who is the “We” in We the People? The Workshop will open with the joint ACHE/AUPHA breakfast presentation featuring David B. ​ 2018 Annual Meeting The Call for Proposals for the 2018 Annual Meeting will be available on November 1 st. Please consult the Annual Meeting page under the Events tab at www.aupha.org for additional information on the Meeting. Registration will open in late November. In the interim, hotel reservation can be made at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel here .  We encourage you to book early as we anticipate rooms will sell out.  For more information on the meeting, please contact Jason Walker .

The 13th AUPHA Academic Forum will be held on March 5, 2018 during the  HIMSS-2018 Conference , scheduled for March 5th - 9th, 2018. Keynote address from HIMSS-Analytics. The deadline for submitting an abstract of a research paper for consideration to present at the Academic Forum is extended to October 31, 2017.  Any AUPHA full-time faculty can register for HIMSS-18 conference for $155. On September 9, 2017, the University of Memphis MHA program, in conjunction with the Midsouth Health Care Executives chapter of ACHE, hosted an innovative "Mini-Cluster" continuing education seminar. The event offered 4.5 CEUs condensed into one excellent day of learning focused on Health Equity and Community Health Improvement. The Mini-Cluster was attended by healthcare professionals from across Tennessee, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Kentucky - achieving an incredible regional reach. Dr. Bernard Kerr was selected for the first “Faculty Excellence” Award given by the Herbert H. & Grace A. Dow College of Health Professions at Central Michigan University at the College Fall meeting held on August 24, 2017. Dr. Kerr serves as the program director for the new Masters in Health Administration (MHA) program as well as being faculty in the Doctor of Health Administration (DHA) program. The new MHA degree admitted its first cohort in the fall 2016. He has been with the Health Administration Division in the College since 2002. He is a Fellow in ACHE with two service stars. Dr. Kerr served in the US Air Force retiring as Colonel (O6).

​AUPHA's 2017 Undergraduate Workshop was held recently at the Rosen College of Hospitality Management in Orlando, Florida, October 5-7th. Over 60 participants enjoyed the hospitality of the University of Central Florida and a full program of educational sessions, complemented by networking activities.  Thank you again to UCF and Workshop Chair Reid Oetjen  for hosting and for the Friday evening event.  Thanks also go the University of Iowa for the water bottles participants received upon registration. AUPHA welcomes Michelle McCray and Carly Evans to the staff. Michelle joins AUPHA this week as part-time Office Assistant. She will support staff in a variety of ways each afternoon. Her background includes experience in the hospitality industry as an events coordinator and in the education arena as a tutor. She graduated from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore with a B.S. in Hotel & Restaurant Management. Carly joins AUPHA as the Recognition Programs Manager and will take over certification duties from Chris Sanyer.
