Winston Health Policy Scholarship

ANNOUNCING THE 2010-2011 DAVID A. WINSTON HEALTH POLICY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The objective of the DAVID A. WINSTON HEALTH POLICY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM is to increase the number and quality of individuals trained in healthcare policy at the state and federal level by awarding deserving health policy students financial support to further their education.
   
The 2010-2011 DAVID A. WINSTON HEALTH POLICY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM recognizes student excellence and achievement based upon the student’s record and recommendations from faculty and colleagues. Ten $5,000 scholarships will be offered to students who demonstrate their potential to succeed in health policy at the state or federal level upon graduation from their master’s health administration degree program.

 

Eligibility Criteria

  • The DAVID A. WINSTON HEALTH POLICY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM is open to first year graduate students studying health policy at an AUPHA member program.
  • Applicants must plan to graduate during the 2010-2011 academic year.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Scholars are selected based on expressed and demonstrated commitment to health policy, leadership, academic achievement, community involvement and long term career interest.
     

Submission Requirements

 

 

Applicants must apply on-line directly to AUPHA by following the link below and submitting the following materials:

  • One letter of nomination for the scholarship from a faculty member. This letter should be signed and on letterhead and speak specifically to your qualifications for this scholarship.
  • One letter of nomination from a preceptor or employer. This letter should be signed and on letterhead and speak specifically to your qualifications for this scholarship.
  • A personal statement detailing the applicant’s interest in and commitment to health policy and how they intend to pursue policy within their career. This statement should be roughly two single spaced pages in length and should provide detail on what experiences in your life have directed you towards a career in health policy and what your future career aspirations are. The statement should outline how your academic preparation has and will continue to prepare you for a career in health policy.
  • A CV detailing both professional and extracurricular activities.
  • Undergraduate and first semester graduate transcripts (unofficial transcripts are required by TBD and may be submitted by fax (703) 894-0941 or by email to mhaynes@aupha.org)
  • GRE or GMAT scores (waived if not required by your academic program for admission).

  • Official Transcripts from all higher education institutions attended must arrive at AUPHA prior to TBD.
