2012 Winston Health Policy Ball
As part of its contract with the Winston Health Policy Fellowship, every year AUPHA organizes the Winston Health Policy Ball. The Health Policy Ball was initiated by David Winston in 1985 as a social gathering among friends and colleagues in the healthcare field at the beginning of each new year. Today the Ball is the primary fundraiser to support the Winston Health Policy Fellowship and the Winston Health Policy Scholarship Programs.
The 2012 Ball was a rousing success, with more than 1,000 people in attendance. Notable policy makers including Farzad Mostashari, National Coordinator for Health Information Technology; Caya Lewis, Chief of Staff at CMS; and Carolyn Clancy, Director of AHRQ were in attendance. AUPHA plays an essential role in making this event happen, and in so doing, creates added visibility for the Association and the field of healthcare management education through its involvement.
