The School of Health Sciences at Western Carolina University invites applications for the position of Program Director of the Health Administration & Informatics (HAI) distance education undergraduate program. The position is a nine month position with tenure and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.  A master’s degree in health administration or another health-related discipline from an accredited institution is required; a doctorate is preferred. Previous healthcare practice experience, as well as experience in on-line teaching, curriculum development and program coordination is desired. 

 

The successful applicant will be expected to direct and coordinate the on-line HAI Program, teach health care management courses, advise students and complete scholarship and service activities.  Western Carolina University has adopted the Boyer Model of Scholarship and is committed to student engagement and integrated learning. 

Effective communication skills are essential for success in this position.

 

The School of Health Sciences offers undergraduate programs in Athletic Training, Emergency Medical Care, Environmental Health, Health Administration Informatics, Nutrition and Dietetics and Recreational Therapy.  The School of Health Sciences also offers a Master of Health Science Degree offering specialties in Health Management, Health Education, Nutrition & Dietetics, Emergency Medical Care and Gerontology. 

A collaborative environment conducive to interdisciplinary teaching, research and service exists within the School and College. 

 

Western Carolina University, a member of the University of North Carolina, serves the people of North Carolina from its residential campus at Cullowhee and through off-campus instruction in Asheville and other locations. A faculty of about 450 serves a student body of almost 8,200 students. The Cullowhee campus is located in a valley between the Blue Ridge and Great Smoky Mountains, fifty-two miles west of Asheville.
