Are you interested in becoming more involved in AUPHA while discovering best practices that you can take back to your program?  Consider serving as an undergraduate panel reviewer.  In a process comparable to specialty accreditations, AUPHA has established a rigorous peer-review process for those programs willing to undergo external review in the interest of program excellence.  This process thrives on the many volunteers that devote their time and energy to further this collegial process.  Whether you are a seasoned faculty member at a well-established program or new to academe, we are looking for you.

What's Involved?

The review process starts for reviewers at the beginning of December when electronic self-study documents are submitted to AUPHA.  Between December and May, teams of four individuals thoroughly review the program's submissions, and communicate with the program under review for further information and clarification as to how the program meets the established criteria.  Programs and review teams convene at the AUPHA Annual Meeting for a face-to-face meeting, after which the panel review team prepares a final report for submission to AUPHA and the Board of Directors.

How Do I Know Which Role is Best for Me?

There are three available roles on each panel review team.  They include:

Panel Review Chair: Full-time faculty at an AUPHA Full Certified or CAHME Accredited Member Program or have been full-time faculty at an AUPHA Full Certified or CAHME Accredited Member Program within the last 5 years and has served as a team member on at least 3 review teams.  The Chair is responsible for initiating and guiding the work of the team, communicating with the program as needed, and ensuring the timely delivery of all feedback and reports to the program and AUPHA.

Panel Reviewer: Any faculty from an AUPHA undergraduate or graduate member program.

Observer: Any faculty from an AUPHA undergraduate or graduate member program.  Observers are full participants of the review process and the review team, but are non-voting members of the team.  This role is perfect for any program that is interested in certifying in the future and would like to learn more about the process.
