Accreditation of Fully Online Graduate Healthcare Management Programs
CAHME is pleased to announce that starting this year (as of Jan 2015), fully online programs can now apply for CAHME accreditation. Applications can be submitted through CAHME’s eAccreditation portal. To facilitate this change the CAHME Standards Council revised the Self Study Handbook. The revised Self Study Handbook is available on the CAHME website under “Resources” or at the following link.
Accredited programs seeking to add a fully online track or modality may apply to do so by submitting a notice of substantive change to CAHME. Programs must also fill out the Multiple Program Track Survey.The survey along with a request to include the new a program track, degree, dual degree, or delivery modality under current accreditation will be forwarded to the Candidacy Committee for review at the next scheduled meeting and then the Accreditation Council for final disposition. Requests must be received by September 1st for review at the fall Candidacy Committee meeting.
The Candidacy Committee and the Accreditation Council will make one of the following decisions:
- The additional program track, degree, dual degree, or delivery modality is close enough to the accredited program that it can be considered part of the currently accredited program.
- The program track, degree, dual degree, or delivery modality must be reviewed at next accreditation site visit and cannot be considered accredited before then. Alternatively the Program can request an interim site visit to review the change in the Program.
- Such significant differences exist that the additional program track, degree, dual degree, or delivery modality cannot be considered part of the accredited program and must apply for CAHME candidacy.
- More information is needed in order to make a determination.
